Artistic duo pays tribute to fallen soldiers with a series of paintings on ammo box lids
Ukrainian artists Oleksandr Klymenko and Sonia Atlantova have presented their project “Icons on ammo box lids” in the capital of Ukraine. The series of paintings is dedicated to the memory of the fallen soldiers of the Territorial Defense Brigade of Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Each icon has its own image and metaphor that conveys the memories and impressions of the artists from their communication with the participants of the hostilities. These iconostases, depicted on the hard surfaces of ammo box lids, provide mobility and the ability to reach a wide audience. The exhibition of these artworks will be presented at St. Sophia Cathedral in May. The project of Oleksandr Klymenko and Sonia Atlantova is yet another way of honoring the memory and showing respect for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the fight for peace and security in Ukraine.
